The Center for Mathematics and Society (Pusat Studi Matematika dan Masyarakat) once again organized Thesis Day VI on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Coordinated by Ms. Livia Owen together with the student committee, this event took place at the Lecture Theatre, 9th Floor, PPAG 2 South.

The alumni thesis presentation session, moderated by Mr. Robyn Irawan, showcased four graduates of the Mathematics Study Program from various specializations. The presenters were:
- Egbert Tjandra, S.Si. (Data Analytics) with the title “Implementation of Transformer Method for English-Indonesian Translation”.
- Levana Loanardo, S.Si.(Interdisciplinary Optimization & Dynamics with Actuarial Science) with the title “Design and Financial Analysis of a Health Insurance Product Based on SIH Type Epidemic Model with Two Individual Group Divisions”.
- Stella Wijayanti, S.Si. (Data Analytics) with the title “Priority Classification of Multipurpose Loan Applicants Using the XGBoost Method”.
- Tang, Yosua Victor Tandy, S.Si. (Actuarial Science) with the title “Bankruptcy Model of Life Reinsurance Companies: Flexible to Black Swan Events Using Discrete-Time Markov Chains and Contaminated Distributions”.

The main highlight of Thesis Day VI was the seminar titled “From Campus to Industry: Synchronizing Actuarial Science and Practitioner Needs”. Guided by moderator Ms. Farah Kristiani, this seminar presented two prominent actuarial practitioners: Yohanes Johan, S.Si., FSAI, AAAK (Head of Actuarial Pricing Group at PT Asuransi Jiwa BCA) and Yudha Wijaya Saputra, S.Si., FSAI (Appointed Actuary at PT Asuransi Jiwa Sequis Life).
Mr. Yohanes Johan emphasized that an actuary in the industry should ideally master almost all business lines of an insurance company, not limited only to actuarial calculations, but also needs to understand other fields such as accounting, analysis, and marketing. He also highlighted the importance of proficiency in using Excel and automation capabilities within it so that analysis results can be easily understood by all divisions.
Complementing the discussion, Mr. Yudha Wijaya Saputra discussed the business side of insurance companies and the importance of the code of ethics that must be firmly held by an actuary. Facing future challenges such as AI development, Yudha emphasized that technical skills such as coding and advanced Excel mastery are crucial for actuaries to remain relevant and competitive in the industry.

During the event intervals, an exhibition session of 16 research posters from students was also held. Unlike previous Thesis Days, this time there was no announcement for the best thesis presentation winner. The event closed with the announcement of the 3 favorite posters based on voting results. The favorite poster winners were:
- Jason, with the title “Formation of a spatial model to estimate mortality rates using the Li-Lee model and its modifications for every province in Indonesia”.
- Prifa Sarlly Yosia Kalesaran, with the title “Determination of Joint Life Care Annuities premiums to help retired couples finance long-term care”.
- Dhia Amyra Sylvia Husein, with the title “Cyber insurance for influencers in Indonesia”.
The Center for Mathematics and Society is committed to continuing the development of Thesis Day to make it more interesting and innovative in the future.
