The Community Service Team from the Actuarial Program, Mathematics Study Program, Parahyangan Catholic University, organized an Actuarial Mathematics Problem Workshop at SMA Wardaya, one of the top high schools in Jakarta. The event was conducted online as a webinar using the Zoom platform. This webinar series was a continuation of a previous webinar held on Monday, March 10, 2025.
The Actuarial Mathematics Problem Workshop was organized in two webinar sessions: Wednesday, October 8, 2025, and Friday, October 24, 2025.
The first webinar was delivered by Iwan Sugiarto, M.Si., on the topic “Introduction to Mortality Tables.” In this session, participants were introduced to reading mortality tables and calculating the probability of death and survival using them.
The second webinar was presented by Dr. Ferry Jaya Permana, ASAI, on the topic of calculating the annual premium for a simple term life insurance contract. Before the discussion on premium calculations, an introduction was provided on the concepts of compound interest, expected value, and calculating the present value of benefits and premium payments.
In addition to students from SMA Wardaya, the webinar was attended by several students from other high schools and even some university students. Throughout the webinar, several questions related to the material were posed, and prizes were awarded to participants who answered correctly. The webinar ran smoothly and was engaging, as evidenced by the participants’ enthusiasm in answering the questions.
